Formal Living Room
This living room was completely refurbished, beginning with new furnishings and lighting, a gray grasscloth wallpaper on the fireplace wall, a custom area rug and new furnishings. To support a trio of bronzes on the left, custom pedestals were designed with mirrored tops.
Formal Living Room
A close-up of the custom area rug in a soothing palate of two shades of lavender and powdered teal. We did not change the fireplace except to paint the wood mantel frame a creamy white. Fireplace screen is custom etched glass.
On one end of the large livingroom we added new custom side chairs with mahogany arms. The side table was the clients'; we had it painted an antiqued white. Lamp is made of Venetian glass.
Formal Dining Room
This dining room was a new addition, with an expansive built-in buffet with upper cabinets, fronted with glass doors and interior lighting for precious objects. Table was a custom design, to seat 18 for large family gatherings.
Dining Chair Upholstery
The oval-backed chairs, an updated style, were covered in two fabrics. Backs of the chairs were covered in a classic print that is repeated on the window valence.
Cabinet doors and drawers have the soft-close feature; drawers are lined in felt for silver storage. Countertop is Eurostone with mirror flecks.
The host chairs for the dining table are a different style, with rhinestone buttons in the tufting and a stain-resistant pale blue fabric.
The accessory mirror, framed in a resin tipped with silver, was hung over the mirrored backsplash for a glamorous effect.
We used glossy chocolate paint for the cabinetry, and polished chrome handles for the drawers. The top drawers were dressed in "bling" knobs set with rhinestones.
Family Room Bar
We updated the bar by painting the cabinetry blue to match the new blue kitchen island in the adjacent room. We added intriguing blue pendants and new window treatments with a French flair. Bar stools were recovered.
Window Treatment Detail
These window treatments were custom-designed to coordinate with all of the other fabrics used in this large family room. Valences are of matelasse fabric trimmed in a coordinating fabric border. Shades are a striped linen.
Bar Stool Re-Upholstery
To get away from the 80's all-brown look in this den, we added pizzazz to the bar stools with a two-tone fabric treatment. Fabrics are chenille, soft and comfortable.
We used the client's existing furnishings and recovered the four bergere chairs, using a patterned fabric for the backs of the chairs. The paint color scheme was designed to coordinate with the clients' contemporary art collection. We painted the ceiling a soft blue between the beams to add an element of sky to this room, which overlooks the garden.
Chair Upholstery Detail
Patterned fabric on the chair backs and chrome nailhead detail outlines the undulating lines of these classic chairs.
We eliminated a large entertainment center in favor of a more compact system that was relocated to another room. Speakers were installed in this room for audio and the tv. To update the fireplace, red brick was replaced with strip porcelain tiles in pastel colors. Glass crystals were added to the firebox, paired with a mirrored fender in the back that doubles the effect of the glass. A new sectional and storage ottoman, and custom area rug were added. Existing side chairs were recovered.
The clients' art collection is highlighted here. Polished nickel sconces and a pendant fixture were added for extra lighting.
Another vehicle for displaying the clients' art, this long hallway needed something unique on the floor as well. The new wood flooring design included a walnut inlay surrounded by a border of maple. End cabinet is painted silver; accented with silver accessories. The ceiling was painted blue and coordinates with the kitchen and family room.
The exterior doors of this English Tudor-style home were custom-designed for the entry. We selected a French blue in a high-gloss finish for these doors. Cobalt garden pots were added and planted with topiaries. A custom steel pedestal was designed to highlight the Terra Cotta Warrior sculpture that the clients purchased on a trip to China.
